The International Lutheran-Episcopal Society

supporting grass roots conversation with a global perspective

Welcome

Welcome to the International Lutheran-Episcopal Society, USA !

(the United States branch of the Anglican-Lutheran Society)

It is our mission to foster grass roots communication, with a global perspective. Our focus is sharing stories about who we are as people of faith, living out that faith in today's society.

This site is "Communications Central" -- our virtual meeting place.  We are all on the move, going in different directions in our professional lives, and in our faith journeys.  The purpose of this site is to give us a place where paths can cross, and ideas can be shared.

Our parent group, the Anglican Lutheran Society, was founded in England (http://www.anglican-lutheran-society.org/) by a pastor and a priest who wanted to get to know more about one another.  Now, we have chapters in several countries, including the USA!

Approximately every other year, a conference is held in Europe.  We will be in Finland in 2009 (start saving up!).  On the off years, we have had conferences at the Episcopal Seminary in Virginia, at a Roman Catholic retreat center in Waltham, Massachusetts, and in association with the ELCA and ECUSA historical societies in Chicago, Illinois.  Currently, plans are underway to host a conference here in the United States in 2010.  Until then, you can get to know one another through this web site, once you have joined the society.  We feature free membership for seminarians, and a bulletin board for all members wanting to connect.

Anyone, regardless of religious affiliation can join our society.  We are happy to welcome all supporters of ecumenism!  However, the primary goal of the Anglican Lutheran Society USA is to foster the particular relationship between the Episcopal Church USA and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Please wander around our site.  Get to know a little about us.  If what we offer appeals to you, please join us (click on the Membership link in the navigation bar). We also welcome any suggestions you might have. We always need more voices in our conversation!
